Born on the North Shore of Oahu, Brent found his love for the ocean at a very young age, spending countless hours in the water as a child.
“Being surrounded by something greater and more powerful was always captivating to me. It was an outlet for me to forget about the worries of life and be immersed in a world all of its own.”
Brent’s uncle, Brian Bielmann, is one of the most influential surf photographers of his time and played a large role in Brent’s photographic onset. At the age of 13, Brent bought one of his uncle’s used cameras and quickly fell in love with capturing images of the ocean.
Photography has given Brent the privilege of building relationships with people that are countries apart, experience cultures of all diversities, and travel to places that he never imagined he would go. It has deepened his love for creation and opened his eyes to a world that surpasses all earthly understanding.
“For me, photography is to make time stand still, when the allurement, the excitement of one single moment is captured. My surfing photos are an escape from time, an escape to an immortalized moment.”
In a day where we are surrounded by concrete buildings, photography is an outlet for Brent to capture his love for nature's elements and share that love with the rest of the world.
Brent hopes that his work will show people this beautiful world we live in from a unique perspective and inspire them to preserve and protect it.
