Benjamin Charles Bourgeois was born in Ocean City, NJ and in the early 80’s moved with his family to Wrightsville Beach NC.
At the age of two Ben told his mother “I wanna be a surfer” and with an unwavering determination proceeded to make that dream a reality, rising to the elite level of competitive surfing while restoring Wrightsville Beach's place on the international surfing map in the process.
Ben entered his first surfing contest at six years old, immediately becoming a force to be reckoned with. Ben held the World Junior Champion title in 1995, and proceeded to become the ISA World Amateur Champion in 1996.
He started his professional career in 1998 and has since won numerous contests and accolades, including a place in the 2001, 2002 and 2008 World Championship Tour and a gold medal in the 2003 X Games in Huntington Beach. He also won first and second in the notable Nike Lowers Pro in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
In addition to his competitive success Ben has enjoyed international acclaim with over ten cover features on surfing magazines through the years.
Ben has since moved on from competitive surfing and enjoys the freedom of travel and adventure. Always in search of good waves, great friendships and new experiences his lifestyle represents the true definition of what it means to #maketime.
